Mystery and gourmet attitude in French wine country

Difficult to forget and oddly addictive.

Mystery and thriller publisher Le French Book is running summer beach read deals until June 25th. This publishing house offers a variety of summer reads to chose from, from psychological suspense, mysteries set in Paris, and cozy whodunits to novels with amateur sleuths, freelance spies or Mossad agents. These translated top-selling French mysteries and thrillers provide escape reading for hot summer days.

One particular series--the Winemaker Detective series by Jean-Pierre Alaux and Noël Balen--is an immersion in French countryside and gourmet attitude with two amateur sleuths gumshoeing around French wine country. The Winemaker Detective series delves into the underworld of a global luxury industry, where there’s money, deceit, death, crime, inheritance, jealousy—all the ingredients needed to distill a fine detective series; that and a decent dose of Epicurean enjoyment of fine food and beverage. It follows master winemaker Benjamin Cooker and his sidekick Virgile Lanssien in their adventures solving mysteries in vineyards throughout France and beyond. Each book is a homage to wine and winemakers.

Booklist says it "will whet the appetites of fans of both Iron Chef and Murder, She Wrote." Eurocrime calls them "a fun and informative take on the cozy crime mystery, French style." The El Paso Times says the are "books to inspire foodies," and Foreword Reviews: "Difficult to forget and oddly addictive."
