A NON 12 STEP PROGRAM OF TRAUMA AND PTSD THERAPY AND TREATMENT
Here is background on this release. While most people are familiar with the twelve steps popularized by Alcoholics Anonymous, fewer are aware of so-called "non twelve step" alternatives in Canada, and fewer still of non 12 step programs focused on treating trauma and PTSD. Yet many people who suffer from trauma and/or PTSD are not interested in a religiously based program such as the 12 Steps and may feel out of place in programs that have historically been situated in the drug rehabilitation and alcohol treatment area. For this reason, as well as a growing awareness that trauma and PTSD may often be the "root causes" of other emotional issues, Sunshine Coast Health Centre has expanded its offerings to include trauma and PSTD therapy treatment options. Many of the clients come from first responder occupations such as police or fire, but regardless may find that a non-12 step methodology based on Viktor Frankl's "logos" or "meaning" therapy may work better for them.
The expansion of the Centre's staff with these two new hires is yet another step towards maintaining the Centre's reputation as one of the best, if not the best, inpatient trauma and PTSD treatment programs in Canada. Persons who may be interested in exploring program options are urged to reach out to the Centre for a confidential consultation. Journalists and bloggers interested in new treatment methodologies for PTSD and trauma are urged to reach out for interview opportunities.
