The Surry County Register of Deeds office is now broadening their ability to accept electronic documents for recording by adding Simplifile as one of their approved vendors. Simplifile is the nation’s largest e-recording service provider.

By using Simplifile’s web-based service, customers will be able to electronically prepare or scan, upload, and submit documents to the register’s office for recording in minutes.
“The benefits are significant for those wishing to take advantage of this service,” Comer said. “For our office, it allows us to save paper and reduces workflow time. For the submitter, it saves both travel and turnaround time in closing their customer’s loans. If you’re a bank, mortgage company, title company, or practicing attorney and not currently taking advantage of e-recording, I think it’s certainly worthwhile to investigate and consider the advantages to this recording process.”
Surry County, that has offered e-recording services for some time, now joins 45 other counties in North Carolina and more than 1,200 nationwide who also offer service through the Simplifile system.
“I believe users of this service will find it to be an easy transition and one ultimately that will save them time and expense. My staff and I of course stand ready to offer any assistance. The transition from traditional recording, which we of course continue to offer, will be smooth,” Comer added.
High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.
Recording fees and payments can also be processed securely through Simplifile, eliminating check-writing expenses and reducing payment errors.
