SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. (PRWEB) July 23, 2014 -- Electronic recording (e-recording) of documents is now available through Simplifile in Sussex County, Del., making Delaware the fifth U.S. state to implement e-recording in each of its recording jurisdictions statewide.
“We started e-recording because it makes sense to provide this public service to property owners in Sussex County, Del.,” said Sussex County Recorder Scott Dailey. “Electronic recording was a campaign promise I made to the voters in 2010. It is now a promise kept, and it has been done in conjunction with the other recorders in the state.”
With e-recording available, customers such as title companies, banks, attorneys, and others who submit documents to the recorder’s office for recording, will be able to quickly submit documents online through Simplifile’s secure, web-based service.
“E-recording simply provides another way to submit a document to our office. Our goal is to make the office as accessible as possible,” Dailey added. “Simplifile has made the process easy from the start. They have worked tirelessly with all of the recorders in the state.”
Kent County was Delaware’s first county to adopt e-recording, recording their first official electronic document through Simplifile in May 2013. New Castle followed suit this past February, implementing Simplifile’s e-recording service to provide customers with an alternative to paper submissions, saving time and money.
“We’re thrilled to be providing e-recording in Sussex and to see another state fully on board with e-recording,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “It’s rewarding to see how much of an impact our e-recording service has on improving and accelerating the overall recording process.”
When Dailey’s office receives documents electronically, they can quickly record or reject and return the documents back to submitters, cutting down the wait time from days or weeks down to minutes.
Delaware joins Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, and Hawaii in offering e-recording statewide with Simplifile.
