SWaMfest, The Premier Networking Event for Small, Women, and Minority Owned Businesses Will Be Held at Hotel Madison.
HARRISONBURG, Va. (PRWEB) August 14, 2018 -- SWaMfest is the premier networking, educational, and professional development event for small, minority-owned, & women-owned businesses in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The conference is October 3rd and 4th in Harrisonburg, VA.
The Shenandoah Valley Conference Center was chosen because of its facilities and proximity to James Madison University, creating a conducive environment for conference attendees to explore the latest products and services from hundreds of SWaM businesses; engage with 350 decision-makers from VASCUPP institutions, prime contractors, corporations; and attend exciting showcase workshops and networking opportunities.
“We are hoping that the small, women, & minority-owned companies that attend will help us tear down walls by building up our knowledge with their unique perspectives,” says Jack King, Supplier Diversity Business Operations Manager at the University of Virginia.
This year, the SWaMfest theme is BEYOND, where all of the workshops, sessions, speakers, and content seeks to push comfortable boundaries and go beyond the status quo, beyond mediocrity, beyond business-as-usual, and beyond the horizon by exploring what tomorrow may hold. The event kicks off October 3 with a vendor fair that showcases businesses and procurement organizations from across the Commonwealth and encourages the growth and development of meaningful business connections. On October 4, the event will feature keynote presentations, breakout seminars, and powerful networking opportunities.
Chris Beahm, chair of the 2018 SWaMfest planning committee and Senior Buyer at James Madison University says, “There are 5 powerful drivers impacting every organization at every level, which is workforce development, technology, marketing and sales, supplier diversity, and logistics. We plan to address these areas and, hopefully, attendees will walk away with innovative strategies.”
Conference attendees will also be able to take advantage of Hotel Madison’s full-service dining at its flagship restaurant Montpelier Restaurant & Bar, opening Fall 2018.
