Sylvan Learning Offers $49 Assessments to Help Families Catch Up From Learning Loss During COVID-19
Many students have had three school years of their education affected by the pandemic. Now, the supplemental and enrichment education brand is offering families an assessment to determine the areas in which their child needs additional support.
BALTIMORE, Oct. 5, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Sylvan Learning, the supplemental and enrichment education brand with 750 points of presence across North America and more than 40 years of experience, is offering $49 educational assessments — down from the original $199 — for the month of October.
Many students have returned to class this fall after experiencing disruptions across three school years due to the pandemic. Time off due to COVID-19 and difficulties with virtual learning have contributed to countless students falling behind.
"This profound disruption for a year and a half is one of the most difficult challenges we've had in modern education history," said Susan Valverde, Sylvan Learning chief franchise operations officer. "For some students, that straddles two and maybe even eventually three school years, once this is all said and done. We've existed for 42 years to help families overcome challenges with learning loss. And while this is distinctly different, we're here to support families in all of these recovery efforts, because we all want to get back to where we were."
Sylvan Learning is offering families a $49 Insight Assessment to discover the areas where their child has the most room for growth.
"Sylvan wants to help as many parents and students as possible during this time, and by offering this assessment at a very low cost, parents can get a better picture of how their student has fared these last couple of years," said Amy Przywara, Sylvan's chief marketing officer. "The Assessment is a combination of computer-adaptive skill assessments, observations by trained and certified Sylvan teachers and attitude surveys. The results, combined with the feedback from Sylvan's educational staff, can help guide parents on what specific skills, beliefs or behaviors may be limiting growth for their child."
After the Insight Assessment, parents will have a clear picture of their children's educational needs and how Sylvan can address them. By slashing the price of the initial assessment, Sylvan hopes to make supplemental education more affordable and more accessible to reach the greatest number of families.
"Sylvan is offering a deep discount because we believe it's vitally important for all families to stay on top of their children's education during these challenging times," said Przywara. "Getting the assessment done is the first step to actually reversing the detrimental impact of COVID-19. Over the decades, Sylvan has developed proven strategies to take children who are behind and get them ahead of the curve and with their best foot forward toward college. We want to make it as easy as possible for all parents."
Tutoring with Sylvan can help children make learning leaps this school year, at a time when COVID-induced learning loss has forced millions of families to seek out ways to supplement their students' education.
"A recent survey showed 85% of parents believe in tutoring, and they believe it can help their children recover from learning loss as a result of the pandemic — and the Sylvan Insight Assessment is the first step toward that," said Sylvan Learning CEO John McAuliffe. "Parents don't have to just hope for a better school year; they can make it happen with Sylvan Learning."
