Syngenta Corn Lawsuits to Be Considered for Multidistrict Litigation Consolidation at December JPML Hearing, Report Syngenta Viptera Attorneys
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) November 26, 2014 -- Syngenta corn lawsuits are being considered for possible consolidation* in a U.S. District Court by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, according to court documents reviewed by Syngenta corn attorneys at the Onder Law Firm. Syngenta Viptera lawsuits are on the schedule for oral arguments at the upcoming December hearing of the JPML, which will take place in Charleston, SC. Attorneys investigating national Syngenta corn lawsuits for the Onder Law Firm are currently accepting new claims through the firm’s Syngenta Viptera Corn Lawsuit Center website.
According to court documents, plaintiffs advocating for Syngenta corn lawsuit multidistrict litigation allege that “corn farmers, grain elevator operators, and corn exporters have all suffered significant economic damages as a result of Syngenta’s release, promotion, and commercialization of a certain genetically engineered corn trait – MIR162 – into the United States corn production system.” The suit asserts that by promoting Viptera corn and another MIR162 seed known as Agrisure Duracade to farmers even though corn grown with the genetically modified seeds had not been accepted for import by China, Syngenta is responsible for the collapse of the American corn market, according to court documents. These Syngenta Viptera lawsuits allege that all corn farmers, not just those who planted Viptera seed, have sustained economic damages due to intermingling of the corn supply and the vast rejected of U.S. corn by China.
Plaintiffs advocating for Syngenta corn lawsuit consolidation suggest the United States District Court of Northern Illinois as the best location for the multidistrict litigation, according to court documents.
Noting a signification overlap of allegations, defendant Syngenta Inc. et al agrees the Viptera corn lawsuits should be coordinated or consolidated for the promotion of justice, efficiency, and convenience, according to a response filed by the defense on October 29, 2014. However, Syngenta Inc. opposes the suggestion of Northern Illinois as an appropriate venue for the Syngenta corn lawsuits to be consolidated. Instead, the defense suggests U.S. District Court in Minnesota. Oral arguments will be heard on this decision on December 4, 2014.
