Top Five New Year's Resolutions for College Students
Oradell, NJ (PRWEB) December 19, 2014 -- Too many College students start the school year with plans and the motivation to execute only to see their plans and motivation fade away. With the semester coming to a close and grades coming in, students are beginning to make New Year’s resolutions for the spring semester.
“The holidays are a busy and often stressful time for students,” commented Dr. Joel Ingersoll, founder of Take On College. “Coupled with the arrival of grades, which may or may not be optimal, students find themselves establishing resolutions for the next semester. With a bit of reflection and proactive planning, students can create a personal blueprint to maximize their performance in the spring.”
To develop one’s personal blueprint, Dr. Joel maintains that students reflect upon the fall and identify what they did too much of (partying, socializing) and too little of (time management, exercise). Create a list and use it to increase awareness of opportunities and challenges that will lead to a strong spring semester.
“The key to bouncing back is creating realistic New Year’s Resolutions that will help set the tone for an awesome spring,” continued Dr. Joel. “Additionally, students shouldn’t view their resolutions as a burden; they should view them as a proactive, ‘I will’ list.”
The top 5 “I Will” Resolutions for 2015 include:
1. Create a spring semester affirmation and commit to reading it daily
2. Commit to daily stress management activity and a healthy, balanced lifestyle
3. Create specific action steps to address academic challenges
4. Develop an accountability plan for action steps and semester goals
5. Prioritize effective time management strategies
