Purdex Publishes 2013 National Best Tap Water Quality Awards
Natick, MA (PRWEB) September 03, 2013 -- Purdex LLC, an independent, drinking water certification and research company that provides empirical information about the quality and safety of drinking water, today announced the release of the 2013 National Purdex Awards which recognizes communities having the best tap water in the nation.
Based on a unique scoring algorithm called the Purdex Score, the National Purdex Awards recognizes the top three water departments from each state with the highest Purdex Scores. “Water departments around the country do a remarkable job of providing safe drinking water for hundreds of millions of consumers everyday,” explains Thomas Keegan, MSPH, co-founder of Purdex. “However, a few water departments stand out and we wish to recognize their efforts”.
The Purdex Score algorithm is based on federal standards and has been validated by the Department of Biostatistics at Harvard University's School of Public Health. The Purdex Score objectively rates public water systems on a scale from 0 - 1000; higher scores relate to better water quality.
The Purdex Score is based on the company's proprietary algorithm that uses the nation's largest and most current database containing millions of testing results from more than 50,000 public water systems and incorporates EPA's health-based standards for tap water safety. The Website also provides information such as water system ranking, trending analysis, and information about contaminants.
Purdex is an independent, drinking water certification and research company that provides empirical information about the quality and safety of drinking water from tap, bottled and filtered water. This free web-based resource establishes an industry standard providing consumers for the first time with information they can use to evaluate the many choices when it comes to drinking water.
