The Tea Spot’s CEO Takes the Story of Tea Health to the Public by Offering Educational Talks at Community Events
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) January 29, 2015 -- In an effort to educate the public on the health benefits of tea, The Tea Spot’s CEO, Maria Uspenski, recently kicked off a tea health talk series that she hopes to present throughout the Western United States. Her first talk of the series, titled “Tea’s Your Way to a Better Body and Mind,” presents an overview of the history, the science, the how-to’s and the myths surrounding nature’s “elixir of youth.” She begins the session with a journey through tea’s history and cultural traditions as a health beverage. The core of the presentation focuses on the benefits in a cup of tea and where those benefits derive from. At the conclusion of the talk Uspenski offers tips on how to most easily integrate healthy tea habits into everyday nutrition and hydration routines. The 45-minute presentation is followed by a whole leaf tea tasting.
Enthusiastic about the start of this tea health talk series, Uspenski comments on her goals for these community events: “As I pursue my further study of human nutrition, and expand my knowledge base on tea and its benefits, I’m compelled to share this with my colleagues and our customers. Our tea health talks are a natural and structured way for us to help educate people about tea as a health beverage, starting with the people in our community. It’s always hugely rewarding for me to connect with others who have the interest and initiative to look to improved nutrition for bettering their health and wellness."
Uspenski kicked off this series at a local community event hosted by the Erie Colorado Community Library on Thursday, January 15th, 2015. Thirty-five people attended and listened attentively throughout the talk, then eagerly participated with an onrush of questions at the end. Each participant had the opportunity to see and smell an array of different tea types up-close to better understand the difference in the tea leaves during the Tea 101segment. Each attendant also received a loose leaf tea infuser, Tuffy Steeper, and a sample of loose leaf tea to take home. Hot hibiscus tea and Earl Grey cookies were also served as complimentary refreshments.
Stephanie Myers, Librarian at Erie Colorado Community Library, comments on the event, “We couldn’t fit everyone into our usual meeting room, so we all sat in comfy chairs in our library’s Living Room. It was really nice to have such a large group of tea lovers in front of the fireplace learning about the benefits of whole leaf tea. We had people drive in from as far as Greeley for the event. Talk about serious tea drinkers! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and Maria was a great speaker. However, the teas really stole the show. Everyone oohed and ahhed as the dry teas were passed around for all to see and smell up close. It was hard to find a favorite, but I think several people were really taken with the Earl of Grey with the little blue cornflower petals and faint hint of jasmine. It was just lovely!”
Uspenski’s upcoming tea and health talks include a private presentation at Oracle’s office in Boulder, not open to the public, as well as presentations at a local church and book club meeting. She will also be leading a tea and yoga discussion at Big Sky Yoga Retreats’ Winter Wonderland and Wellness for Women, February 19–22, 2015.
