SAE Atlanta to Host Hip Hop Workshop with Grammy-Nominated Producer Tec Beatz
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 28, 2014 -- Atlanta-based producer and beatmaker Tec Beatz, who has worked with such artists as Killer Mike, Nelly, Busta Rhymes, Lil Scrappy, Cyhi Da Prynce, and Tamar Braxton, will be a featured guest at "Hear & Now: Atlanta Hip Hop”, a free workshop to be held at SAE Institute’s Atlanta campus on Saturday, May 17.
The workshop will examine the artists who have made the "Atlanta sound” a unique hip hop genre over the past 20 years. Tec will also demonstrate how to create Atlanta-style tracks and beats using the Ableton Live software and Ableton Push hardware, which he utilizes in all of his productions.
“There’s no better producer than Tec Beatz to explain how and why the Atlanta style of hip hop is so innovative and distinctive,” says SAE Atlanta Campus Director Charlene Purtlebaugh, Campus Director of SAE Institute Atlanta.
“His musical vision helped to define and advance Atlanta hip hop, and workshop participants will get an amazing opportunity to learn the tips and tricks that he uses in the studio each day.”
Leading the workshop will be SAE Audio Technology Program instructor and Ableton Certified Trainer David Lopez. In addition to teaching Ableton Live classes at SAE, David – who is also a DJ and drummer – teaches classes in audio theory, microphones and stereo mic techniques, signal processing, synthesis and sampling, signal flow, and console operation.
“Ableton is a fantastic tool for creating fat, hard-hitting hip hop, and Tec is the man who knows how to do it,” says Lopez.
“He’ll definitely be sharing some hot beatmaking and production secrets at this workshop, so the audience - including our hip hop savvy Audio Technology Program engineering students - should be ready to take notes and learn from a top pro.”
The "Hear & Now: Atlanta Hip Hop" workshop featuring special guest presenter Tec Beatz will be held at SAE Institute’s Atlanta campus at 215 Peachtree Street NE on Saturday, May 17 from 1:00 to 2:30PM. Entry is free and open to the public. To register, sign up online or call SAE Atlanta at (404) 526-9366.
Additional "Hear & Now" workshops will be held at SAE campuses in July and August. These workshops, which will be co-presented by Ableton, will celebrate and demonstrate the important music genres that are native to each campus' respective city. Included will be historical discussions of the noteworthy artists within each scene as well as demonstrations of how to produce their unique styles of music.
