TECHNICA Now Offers Rugged FBG Tilt, Pressure, Strain Sensors Featuring EJTECH Technologies for Civil Engineering Applications
ATLANTA, BEIJING, SINGAPORE, and SEOUL (PRWEB) August 09, 2018 -- FBGs are reliable all-fiber optical components which have been used for making accurate and reliable temperature, strain and other measurements for over two decades. However, due to previous technical limitations, many applications in civil engineering could not be properly addressed. A new generation of ruggedized T520 Tilt Sensors are now available for use in various civil engineering and geotechnical engineering applications including for monitoring of bridge pillars, building foundations, service and mining tunnels, dams, and many other types of structures. The sensors can be mounted on both walls and platforms. The original sensor design and mounting plate eliminate the requirement for high precision alignment and diligent surface preparation of the structures to be monitored that is normally required of other tilt sensors.
At its core, the T520 Tilt Sensor consists of two industrial grade Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG) manufactured using TECHNICA’s state-of-the-art manufacturing processes. Combined with tight dimensional and materials controls and a superior transducer design, the result is a new generation tilt sensor featuring excellent wavelength to angle linearity. Each unit is tested and calibrated using state-of-the-art Swiss BlueClino technology. The original design, assembly, and calibration process of these sensors represents a step-function improvement over previous solutions. Featuring high-resolution high-accuracy and self-temperature compensated angle sensing, when coupled with TECHNICA recommended matching Optical Sensing Interrogators, these new Tilt Sensors provide unparalleled angle measurement precision and reliability. The other two new members of our Civil Engineering Sensors portfolio, the T620 Pore Water Pressure Sensors and T240 Rebar Strain Sensors, are now also manufactured at Technica, are commercially available, and are equally impressive in performance specifications and reliability.
