Rick Otton Podcast Reveals How Technology Will Change Real Estate Investing
(PRWEB) July 31, 2014 -- Technology is revolutionising people’s personal lives and how they do business, and the real estate industry is not immune. Leading innovator and real estate investor, Rick Otton, has revealed in his latest podcast the most recent changes affecting the industry, and how technology can help investors achieve market-beating returns.
“Technology is one of those things that scares a lot of people, which is understandable given how quickly things move,” said Mr. Otton. “It’s incredible to think that 10 years ago iPhones, iPods and tablet computers didn’t exist and that 15 years ago things that are part of daily life as we know it like Google and YouTube hadn’t even been thought of!”
“There is a recent trend in retail called 'showrooming'. It refers to a situation where a buyer of a big ticket item like a fridge or big screen television will go into Harvey Norman or JB Hi-Fi and see the item up close and maybe talk to the assistant to get some information,” explained Mr. Otton.
“They will then head home and get on the Internet to see if they can get a better price online or from a competitor. It may not seem applicable to real estate, but the fact is that with Google Maps and their Streetview technology, an investor can see what a prospective investment house and neighborhood looks like without ever leaving their own home,” said Mr. Otton.
“The other big change is with how documents are processed. There has been some basic electronic signature technology around for some time now, but almost everyone has a smartphone or tablet computer these days. Because of this, signing electronically is about to get much more common, with everyone from banks to real estate agents embracing the technology to do so securely,” said Mr. Otton.
“In such a fast paced and rapidly changing environment it’s more important than ever that investors have a regular and trusted source of information to go to when they want to access creative real estate and investing strategies. That is specifically the reason I started the We Buy Houses Radio Show and podcast, as I think it is a fantastic source of information for all property investors," said Mr. Otton.
