Teen Yoga Teacher Training Course Offered at the Sivananda Yoga Retreat in the Bahamas
Miami, FL (PRWEB) July 08, 2013 -- Teen Yoga is a hands-on practical course to teach you how to teach Teens in a school or outside environment. The program will be offered from February 2-6, 2014 in the Sivananda Yoga Retreat in Nassau, Bahamas. The course is designed to build your confidence and fill the gaps of knowledge, looking at the infinite and classic wisdom of the Vedantic system of yoga for inspiration and blending it with present research and science to give us a full picture of how best to approach this population with the healing science of yoga. At the end of this course you will feel completely confident to run a course at a school, either intra-curricula or ex-curricula. The course has been developed in the UK.
The main thrust of the Yoga course is to show how you can apply yoga to the Teen population and to empower the teacher to deliver yoga in the most relevant way possible building on their (the teachers) own personal practise and experience. It is not a formulaic system to be copied and emulated but rather a wealth of information to top up and confirm your own innate wisdom and draw to this age group.
The course is unique as it is completely focused on the very specific issues that face the teen population, with practical demonstrations and exercises as well as expert lectures on the latest research in this field. The teacher of the course is currently working with this group on a daily basis and has done so for many years. The goal of the course is to provide a tool box of information, background, structure and ethical advice and give confidence to the student to approach and teach teens in high schools and elsewhere.
The motivation for developing this course, is the heartfelt belief that yoga and meditation should form part of the school curriculum in order to raise self-efficacy in the young adult and encourage positive mental health. As anxiety and depression cause approximately 80% of diseases in the West today, we could be saving our health service a great deal of money (£8.6 billion was spent in the UK on depression related diseases in 2010) let alone building a happier and more balanced future for our children. The aim of the course is to give Sivananda TTC graduates and other yoga teachers the foundational knowledge needed to approach Teens with confidence and joy, disseminating yoga in an easy and digestible way, which ultimately could lead to a brighter future for these kids and a very rewarding time for you.

About the presenter
Charlotta Martinus trained with the Sivananda organization in the USA to become a teacher in 2004. After only a few years of doing yoga, she took her first pilgrimage to India and became initiated after a deep spiritual experience. She trained briefly with Yoga Therapist, Mukunda Styles and studied Anusara therapeutics with Bruce Bowden. Her most influential training of late was the Yoga Psychology training with Dr Uma Krishnamurti. She is currently studying to become a Yoga for the Mind therapist with Heather Mason. When the opportunity arose to teach yoga to teenagers in her local town, all her experience came together. Realising the difficulties in teaching this age group and the benefits the students derived, the teacher training module was developed. Charlotta currently lives in Somerset where she runs a yoga and retreat centre called Universal Yoga.
