Terascala Announces the Release of TeraOS 5 at SC13
Boston, Mass. (PRWEB) November 19, 2013 -- Terascala, the fast data company, announced today at SC13 the release of their latest generation of high-performance storage appliance software, TeraOS 5. Enterprise markets require a true high-performance storage appliance–one that manages everything including servers, network, storage and file system components. TeraOS 5 is the only Lustre™-based platform that integrates and manages all of those components into a turnkey, highly reliable storage appliance with seamless Lustre integration.
TeraOS provides OEMs with a complete software appliance, allowing them to quickly develop and deploy world-class, turnkey storage solutions that meet the demanding needs of today’s high-performance and technical computing customers.
With the release of TeraOS 5, customers will now have access to Lustre 2.1.5 with all of its enhancements, such as 4 terabyte (TB) drive support and OST/MDT sizes up to 128 TBs. In addition to supporting new storage controllers, TeraOS 5 includes a number of enhancements that include out of the box integration with Terascala’s recently announced Intelligent Storage Bridge, a product for rapidly integrating information and streamlining workflows between high-performance storage and existing enterprise storage solutions.
“We’re extremely excited about this release,” said Bryan Cote, director of product management for Terascala. “Nearly 2 petabytes (PBs) of TeraOS 5.0 were deployed in a beta program and are now in production with this release. With the success of the beta program, our OEM partners are further equipped to offer best-in-class, high-performance storage solutions that meet all of the functionality, manageability and reliability requirements today’s HPC and technical computing users expect.”
Terascala’s solutions power products from OEMs such as Dell and NetApp, including the Dell HSS series and NetApp’s High-Performance Storage (HPS) Rack.
“Dell chose TeraOS 5 for their new HSS 5.0 in part because of the Lustre 2.1 support that allows them to build solutions with even greater storage densities,” continued Cote. “And while TeraOS 3 set the bar high for turnkey deployment and ease of use with NetApp’s HPS Rack, TeraOS 5 will add a number of features the field has been asking for.”
TeraOS is shipping today on Dell’s HSS 5.0 and is in certification for NetApp’s HPS Rack.
