The federal court overseeing hundreds of testosterone treatment lawsuits (http://www.testosteronelawsuithub.com/) pending in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, has scheduled the litigation’s next Case Management Conference for April 21st at 1:30 p.m. Court records indicate that the meeting will address the progress of product liability claims filed on behalf of men who allegedly experienced heart attacks, strokes and other cardiovascular complications due to their use of prescription testosterone replacement medications. “Our attorneys are looking forward to this conference, as we are representing a number of clients who have testosterone lawsuits pending in the Northern District of Illinois. We expect that the meeting will provide important updates regarding the progress of discovery and other matters relevant to our clients’ claims,” says Sandy A. Liebhard, a partner at Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm continues to offer free case reviews to men who may have been harmed by low testosterone treatments.

Testosterone Litigation
Currently, more than 1,100 testosterone treatment lawsuits are pending in the federal multidistrict litigation underway in Illinois. Court documents indicate that all of these cases were filed in the wake of the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) January 31, 2014 disclosure that it was investigating cardiovascular side effects potentially associated with testosterone replacement therapy.* On March 3rd, the FDA issued an update to that disclosure, and announced that it would require the manufacturers of Low T therapies to add new information about the drug’s potential association with an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. The FDA also noted that the new labeling would be required to clearly identify the drug’s approved uses, which currently only include hypogonadism (low testosterone) caused by disorders of the testicles, pituitary gland, or brain.

Court records indicate that all of the testosterone lawsuits included in the federal litigation claim that the manufacturers of low T therapy failed to warn patients and the medical community of their potential to cause serious cardiovascular problems, including heart attacks, strokes, deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. The lawsuits also question the marketing tactics used to drive sales of the drugs, which plaintiffs allege induced many healthy men to seek testosterone treatment to remedy low libido, fatigue and other issues normally associated with male aging, even though the medications are not approved for this use.

Men who suffered heart attacks, strokes and other serious cardiovascular problems allegedly due to their use of low testosterone therapies may be entitled to take legal action of their own.
