New York, New York (PRWEB) October 27, 2014 -- The federal court overseeing hundreds of testosterone treatment lawsuits (http://www.testosteronelawsuithub.com/) now pending in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois has issued a new Preservation Order pertaining to any discoverable documents, electronically stored Information, and other tangible materials in possession of any party. Among other things, the Order requires the parties to take reasonable steps to prevent the destruction, alteration, shredding, or deletion of such materials, as well as any negligent or intentional handling that would make that material incomplete or inaccessible. “Our Firm continues to evaluate claims on behalf of men who allegedly suffered potentially life-threatening cardiovascular side effects due to their use of low testosterone therapy. We are watching developments in the federal litigation closely, and are pleased to see these testosterone lawsuits moving forward,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is now offering free legal evaluations to men who allegedly suffered heart attacks, strokes, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism and other life-threatening heart problems due to their use of prescription testosterone medications.

Prescription low testosterone therapies include gels, patches and injections, all of which have been approved to treat hypogonadism (low testosterone) in men who suffer from the condition due to an underlying medical issue. Medications in this class include:*
• Axiron
• AndroDerm
• AndroGel
• Bio-T Gel
• Delatestryl
• Depo-Testosterone
• Foresta
• Striant
• Testopel
• Testim
Court documents indicate that more than 220 testosterone treatment lawsuits are now pending in the federal multidistrict litigation underway in the Northern District of Illinois. Among other things, the plaintiffs involved in this litigation allege that the manufacturers of low testosterone therapies failed to warn doctors and patients about their potential cardiovascular risks, and concealed those dangers from the public. The lawsuits further claim that the aggressive marketing tactics used to drive sales of the drugs positioned the medications as an effective remedy for low libido, fatigue and other symptoms caused by age-related drops in testosterone, even though they are not approved for this use. As such, the complaints assert that many men were induced to use potentially dangerous testosterone drugs, despite having no medical need for the treatments.
According to court records, the testosterone litigation has been growing since January, when the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced that it was investigating the cardiovascular risks associated with low testosterone therapy. Since then, a panel of FDA advisors has recommended that the drugs’ labels be revised to make clear they have not been shown to lessen symptoms related to age-related drops in testosterone. They also recommended that the manufacturers of testosterone replacement therapies be required to conduct studies of their cardiovascular side effects.**
Men who experienced life-threatening cardiovascular side effects allegedly due to their use of prescription testosterone therapies may be entitled to compensation from the manufacturers of these mediations.
