Texas has a wealth of young, athletic talent and we are hoping to continue to develop this great sport domestically through our growing network of Nike Rugby Camps.
San Rafael, CA (PRWEB) March 12, 2014
The new Nike Rugby Camps at University of Texas Arlington will offer boys, ages 14 – 18, a great opportunity to expand their knowledge of the game and work intimately with decorated coaches, Scott Lawrence and Justin Hickey. Participants are housed on campus at UT Arlington and utilize the athletic facilities each day for rugby activities.
“Coach Hickey and Lawrence are fired up to offer an intensive rugby program to boys in Texas,” states Nicholas Brunner, manager of Nike Rugby Camps. “Texas has a wealth of young, athletic talent and we are hoping to continue to develop this great sport domestically through our growing network of Nike Rugby Camps.”
Nike Rugby Camps will offer one session this summer from July 10th – 13th. The camp is open to boys of all ability levels with the option of an all-inclusive overnight program or a day program from 9:00am - 5:30pm each day. Overnight campers reside in the dormitories on campus and have meals in the dining halls. The primary goal of Nike Rugby Camps is to develop players’ individual skill sets and optimize team play. Seminars on nutrition, mental preparation, strength and conditioning, and film analysis will also be offered throughout the camp week.
The Co-Directors for the program are Scott Lawrence and Justin Hickey. Lawrence led his former USA U-20 team in 2012 to the Junior World Rugby Trophy Championship in only his second year with the team. Hickey previously managed the USA Rugby U-20 Junior All American Mens Team for two years before he became the head coach of the Clemson Rugby Program which he has now been with for four years. These experienced coaches are excited to head the UT Arlington Nike Rugby Camps and bring new insight and knowledge to each and every camper while inspiring them on and off the field.
“Any time you get a chance to work with Texas athletes you grab it with both hands,” says Co-Director, Scott Lawrence. “We're excited to bring our athlete-centered camp approach to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. It’s going to be a great four days.”
