San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) July 09, 2013
Texas Physical Therapy Specialists (TexPTS) is proud to announce that Jaime Gonzalez PT, DPT, OCS has received training and earned the professional designation of Orthopaedic Certified Specialist. This board-certification is granted by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (ABPTS) and involves rigorous application and examination processes and provides assurance to patients and the medical community of Dr. Gonzalez’s skills and abilities. Dr. Gonzalez is recognized for advanced knowledge, experience, and skills in the practice of orthopaedic physical therapy and the conditions effecting bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves. Dr. Gonzalez treats patients at the TexPTS Splashtown location.
Similar to physician specialization, there are eight specialty areas in which physical therapists can be board certified. Roughly 6.5% of the physical therapists in the United States are board certified in a specialty and only 3.9% of therapists in the United States are Orthopaedic Certified Specialists. Those with this advanced certification are considered to have a great depth of knowledge and skills in their specialty area of physical therapy.
“This certification is verification of my dedication and expertise in providing exceptional orthopaedic care to patients in the San Antonio community,” states Dr. Gonzalez. “I look forward to providing amazing care for my patients and helping them get back to doing the activities they love as quickly as possible.”
Dr. Gonzalez recently retired from a 20-year career in the US Army. He proudly served as a combat medic for ten years before earning a commission and serving as an Army Physical Therapist for the rest of his active duty career. He enjoys, in particular, working with young athletes, especially runners and track athletes. Born and reared in Brownsville, in the beautiful Rio Grande Valley of Texas, he is a proud native Texan and very happy to be back home. He is an active parishioner at St. Joseph-Honey Creek Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus and is also an avid Spurs fan.
