The Cabin Chiang Mai Alcohol and Drug Rehab Expert to Speak at Australian Alcoholics Anonymous Event in June
(PRWEB) May 21, 2014 -- The Cabin Chiang Mai Addiction Rehab’s Aftercare Provider, psychologist Cameron Brown will share with a 250 strong congregation of mental health professionals and AA members, the merits of The Cabin’s unique version of the 12 Steps at the Victoria Alcoholics Anonymous Anniversary Event in Melbourne on June 10th, 2014.
Founded in America by recovering alcoholics Bill Wilson and Dr. Robert Smith on June 10, 1935, Alcoholics Anonymous or AA was initially intended to be a support group for people with a drinking problem who wanted to get and stay sober. It employed the same method that the founders had used to achieve sobriety – a programme heavily influenced by Christian religious beliefs known as the 12 Steps of recovery.
Today not only has AA turned into a global fellowship with millions of members – but the ability of its 12 Step programme to combat the disease of addiction in general has spawned many other similar organisations. The best known ones are NA or Narcotics Anonymous, SAA or Sex Addicts Anonymous, Ga or Gamblers Anonymous and many more.
The Cabin Chiang Mai – Asia’s leading substance and process addiction centre, also believes in the high efficacy of the 12 Steps and incorporates the programme in the rehab’s progressive addiction treatment model – along with three other evidence-based methods, namely Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, The 3 Circles and Mindfulness Therapy.
