WCSAD is America’s premier addiction conference dedicated to promoting outcomes-based addiction services and continuing education on developments in the various academic disciplines within the fields of addiction and behavioral health. This year, the event offers over 50 seminars and 60 key speakers.

Alastair, who designed the highly successful treatment program used at The Cabin Chiang Mai, Asia’s top residential addiction treatment center in Northern Thailand, will speak about his treatment model, which has delivered more than 1200 clients into successful recovery since its opening in 2010.

  •     Topic: Bringing psycho/social elements of treatment into alignment with advances in the understanding of the neurobiology of addiction
  •     Date: 30th May @1.45 – 03.15 pm
  •     Venue: La Quinta Resort and Club, CA

Alastair is a certified addiction counselor with over 10 years’ experience working in all four tiers of the UK’s treatment services, including as an advisor to the National Treatment Agency on matters of drug and alcohol treatment provision. His forte is developing therapeutic group work models for both inpatient and outpatient settings. He also writes articles on addiction for numerous media outlets including CNN and Asian Correspondent.

The Cabin’s unique addiction treatment model, called Recovery Zones, treats both chemical (drug and alcohol addictions) and process (sex, gambling, etc.) addictions. Recovery Zones offers a refined combination of the most effective treatment methods known today, such as CBT, 12 Step techniques and Mindfulness that have been modified to achieve recovery in a shorter time span than traditional methods.

This secular and culturally adaptable treatment program, which includes relapse prevention therapy and dedicated aftercare, draws clients from all over the globe as The Cabin Chiang Mai is able to offer world-class treatment and accommodation at approximately 1/3 of the rates quoted by similar facilities in the US.
