Noted Addiction Expert from Elements Behavioral Health to Deliver Keynote Speech at Broward County Mental Health Conference
Deerfield Beach, FL (PRWEB) March 04, 2014 -- On April 11, 2014, Ash Bhatt, MD, a nationally recognized authority in the field of addiction and mental health treatment, will present “You Can’t Just Talk it out of Them – The Neurobiology of the Addicted Mind” at the Broward County Crime Commission’s Addictions & Mental Health Conference at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Deerfield Beach, Fla.
Dr. Bhatt, Chief Medical Officer of Elements Behavioral Health – Florida Region, will provide an overview of the evolution of the addictive process, from genetic and environmental influences to the underlying neurobiological and neurophysiological changes that occur within the brain of the addicted individual. He will also explore the relationship between addiction and co-occurring mental illness.
“I am hoping participants will share this information with others,” said Dr. Bhatt, “to help correct misconceptions that have contributed to the negative stigma, guilt, shame and blame associated with addiction, as well as correct inaccurate diagnosis and treatment of those suffering from addiction and mental illness.”
The conference, which will include pre-event networking, one-on-one meetings, industry studies, breakout sessions and exhibits, is expected to attract 300 to 400 attendees, including mental health professionals, attorneys, addiction professionals, healthcare administrators, criminal justice and public safety professionals and educators.
The cost to attend the conference is $85 at the door, $75 if registering before April 4 ($65 for law enforcement personnel and students). Attendees may earn seven continuing education credits. Seating is limited and early registration is recommended.
