BAYAMÓN, Puerto Rico, March 28, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- During Round 3 of Spayathon™ for Puerto Rico, which was held last month in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, veterinaries provided high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgeries to a record 8,513 dogs and cats in just 7 days. This was the third out of 4 rounds to be held on the island, and the 20/22 Act Society has committed to and has directly funded the spay and neuter of approximately 2,000 dogs, through the financial support of its members. Spayathon™ is a massive collaborative effort organized by the Humane Society of the United States, one of the partner charities of the 20/22 Act Society's Foundation.
"This initiative solidifies the efforts of the members of the Society in eradicating the local animal welfare crisis while improving the quality of life of the local community", said Founder Robb Rill. "Our last clinic was a huge success and we thank you for being a big part of that. Your support is very much appreciated!", said Dr. Ruth Parkin, DVM, President & Chair of ViDAS.
ViDAS is the nonprofit organization who brought the brigade of veterinaries that altered those animals at the Spayathon™. This is a historic initiative aimed to spay/neuter over 20,000 dogs and cats in underserved communities across Puerto Rico. Each animal treated also received rabies, leptospirosis, and other essential vaccinations.
That was the 36th clinic for ViDAS as an organization. "We couldn't be more excited for this opportunity to help a community recently ravaged by a devastating hurricane, which left thousands of animals homeless", stated ViDAS in their website. Adding to this astonishing feat, ViDAS has officially announced that its Round 4 clinic of Spayathon™ will be held May 3-8 in Manatí, Puerto Rico. We are again very honored to be part of this cause.
In addition to ViDAS, since its inception in 2014, The 20/22 Act Society's Foundation has supported many animal welfare charities on the island, including PR Alliance for Companion Animals, the Humane Society of the United States, and The Sato Project, to name a few.
About The 20/22 Act Society:
The Society is a membership-based organization founded in 2014 and built around Laws 20 and 22 of Puerto Rico to incentivize companies and high net worth individuals to relocate to Puerto Rico under the tax incentive code of 2012. The Society is the epicenter organization for those recipients and has the purpose to educate those interested in the acts, provide members with a community to socialize and interact, donate to local causes, and have a unified voice for its recipients. The 20/22 Act Society is as diverse as it is exceptional, but all members share common values and aspirations. The 20/22 Foundation was formed to bring member's individual charitable interests together and to explore how the Foundation could provide support in an effective and efficient way.
