The Inaugural International Design Conference to Launch Sept. in New Orleans
(PRWEB) August 16, 2018 -- The Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) announces the inaugural International Design Conference (IDC). The conference will bring together designers from a variety of disciplines to cultivate a shared understanding and to rally around common themes and challenges facing the ever-changing design profession. IDC will be held Sept. 19–22 in New Orleans, LA and will be a celebration of the diversity, overlap and undeniable power of design.
Emcees Debbie Millman and John Maeda will lead a dialogue with top design thinkers and provocateurs representing some of the world's most visionary companies. Millman is an author, educator, creator and host of the podcast “Design Matters.” She also was named “one of the most creative people in business” by Fast Company, and “one of the most influential designers working today” by Graphic Design USA. Maeda is an executive, designer and technologist. He is also author of the yearly “Design in Tech Report.”
Recently announced, independent filmmaker and photographer Gary Hustwit will present on the mainstage at the IDC. Hustwit is the creator of the design documentaries “Helvetica," “Objectified," “Urbanized" and “Rams”—set for release this fall.
The IDC will kick off with the IDEA Ceremony and Gala and continue with two days of presentations from more than two dozen design leaders. The conference will finish strong with the IDSA/Eastman Innovation Lab Education Symposium, exploring design theory, methodology and the future of design education.
The IDC will also feature other top designers from notable companies such as Google, PepsiCo, Facebook, Nike and many more!
