The NPD Group Debuts U.S. Vertical Reseller Tracking for the B2B Technology Industry

The new service provides deeper insights across 20 vertical sectors and over 300 vertical industry groups.

NPD’s new Vertical Reseller Tracking information provides a one-of-a-kind solution for understanding industry-specific trends needed to make better-informed, more effective business decisions.

The NPD Group today announced that is has expanded its Reseller Tracking Service to include Vertical Reseller data, which will add visibility into what technology hardware and software products are sold to businesses across 20 vertical sectors and more than 300 vertical industry groups. This addition will provide the most comprehensive view of the U.S. B2B technology reseller channel with item-level sales detail across sectors including finance, healthcare, education, and other industries. Vertical definitions will follow the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS), the standard used by Federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments.

The new offering shows that during the 12 months ending October 2019, the Finance and Insurance sector saw the strongest growth (+18%) with sales up $715 million year over year, twice as much as any other sector. Healthcare and Social Assistance saw the second highest growth (+11%), with the largest volume of sales going through the General Medical and Surgical Hospitals industry group. The Other Ambulatory and Surgical Hospitals industry group experienced the highest revenue growth in this sector.
