“Marines don’t have time to deal with data which has no value – which doesn’t provide them with a strategic or tactical edge. Our file analysis software provides a user-friendly platform to automate processing of data to ensure USMC forces have the best operational insights possible.”

Active Navigation, an industry-leading provider of file analysis software for the discovery, transformation and ongoing control of unstructured data, and the United States Marine Corps, a branch of the United States Armed Forces, today announced that Active Navigation was recently selected to continue its work attacking the Marine Corps’ massive stores of unstructured data. The Marine’s commitment to being best-in-breed is reinforced by their decision to use Active Navigation’s cutting-edge tools and technologies.

“Marines are the first to fight,” said Active Navigation’s VP of Federal Business Development, John Cofrancesco. “Marines don’t have time to deal with data which has no value – which doesn’t provide them with a strategic or tactical edge. Our file analysis software provides a user-friendly platform to automate processing of data to ensure USMC forces have the best operational insights possible.”

The 1st branch of the United States Armed Forces with an enterprise license of Discovery Center, the Marine Corps is using Discovery Center to detect classification spillage, remove redundant, obsolete, and trivial (ROT) data, quarantine sensitive information, and classify content using metadata tags - all without end-user involvement. 100’s of terabytes of data and millions of documents have already been categorized using the Department of Navy (DON) Standard Subject Identification Code (SSIC) retention schedule. Discovery Center is also helping the Marine Corps ensure compliance with M-19-21.

As the Marines lay the groundwork preparing for combat with information operations, Discovery Center is helping this agile organization confidently rise to the challenge of containing rapid data growth.
