Breast Cancer Awareness Event Offers Opportunity to Learn More about New Treatment and Reconstruction
WINTER PARK, Fla. (PRWEB) October 06, 2014 -- In celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, women are invited to join in BreastFest, an annual event to raise awareness for breast reconstruction options and raise funds for breast cancer nonprofits.
Renowned breast reconstruction expert Dr. Jeffrey Hartog along with breast cancer survivor and radiologist Dr. Julie Miller are presenting an educational talk on the uses fat transfer to improve on breast implant reconstruction for breast cancer, and fix many of the problems associated with breast implants, especially when used for reconstruction on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. as part of the BreastFest event.
“As the spouse of a breast cancer survivor, I understand the importance of educating for treatment and for life after treatment,” said Hartog. “Women have the option of naturally reconstructing their breasts using their own fat. BreastFest is an exceptional opportunity for women to learn about the fat grafting option as well as to hear from breast cancer survivor and radiologist Dr. Miller.”
Tickets for BreastFest, held at The Bougainvillea Clinique, 44355 Bear Gully Rd. in Winter Park, are a $25 donation. Attendees receive a gift bag.
Proceeds from the event support Warriors on Water, an Orlando-based nonprofit breast cancer survivors dragon boat team, and the Winter Park Memorial Hospital Mammography Scholarship Fund, which provides support to women who cannot afford a screening mammogram or further diagnostic testing.
Attendees are invited to participate in a silent auction at 6 p.m. prior to the educational talk. A food truck and vendors will also be on hand during the event.
