The Meadows’ Senior Fellows, Dr. Patrick Carnes and Dr. Claudia Black, are the keynote speakers. Dr. Nancy Bailey, Clinical Director for The Meadows, will also be a speaker.

Patrick Carnes, PhD, CAS, is a nationally known speaker on sex addiction and recovery issues. He is the founder of the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP) and Gentle Path Press. From 1996 until 2004, Dr. Carnes was Clinical Director for Sexual Disorder Services at The Meadows Wickenburg. The Meadows recently announced the addition of Dr. Carnes’ Gentle Path Program for sexual disorders in males 18 years and older scheduled to open November 2013. In addition to his keynote address at the conference, “Advances in the Treatment of Sex Addiction,” Dr. Carnes will present “Understanding Multiple Addictions: Addiction Interaction Disorder.”

Claudia Black, MSW, PhD, is a renowned author and trainer internationally recognized for her pioneering and contemporary work with family systems and addictive disorders. Dr. Black designs and presents training workshops and seminars to professional audiences in the field of family service, mental health, addiction, and correctional services. She is the author of several popular books; the latest title being Intimate Treason: Healing the Trauma for Partners Confronting Sex Addiction. In addition to Dr. Black’s keynote address, “Intimate Treason: Facing Sexual Betrayal,” she will speak on “Healing the Trauma for Partners Confronting Sex Addiction.”

Nancy Bailey, PhD, ICCDP/D, ICADC, CET III, will present “Guilty – Until Realized Worthy.” Dr. Bailey will discuss the reconsideration of the critical role of lessening guilt and shame in treating recovering mothers while remediating triggers to relapse – and the powerful treatment options in cutting through the layers of responsibility a mother holds physically, mentally, and spiritually.

The focus of the conference is “Intervening on Process Addictions at Home and in the Workplace.”
