In an effort to assist the Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado, The Murty Group, at The Platinum Group, Realtors, is hosting a “Cardboard Dump Day” party on Saturday, July 22 from 10am to 1pm. The event will be held in the parking lot of The Platinum Group, Realtors, 6760 Corporate Drive, Suite 300, Colorado Springs, CO.
“We are going to provide a picnic lunch and people can come and drop off their cardboard all in one go,” said Dan Murty, founder of The Murty Group. “We are encouraging the entire community to come out and drop off all the cardboard you can.”
Cardboard collected will be given to GoalZero Recycling, a sister program of Care and Share. Every ten pounds of cardboard is worth sixteen meals to the Care and Share, the sole food bank for Southern Colorado. GoalZero Recycling was born out of Care and Share’s desire to minimize mountains of food and packaging waste, and the sale of material generated provides a revenue stream for the food bank to buy food for hungry people.
The Murty Group also holds an Annual Care and Share Food Drive, and last year collected 324 pounds of food. Care and Share believes no one should go hungry, and every day provides food to its partner agencies across Southern Colorado.
