The Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation San Pedro Open House - Lead by Dr. Anthony Giorgio, who joined The Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation in October of this year, the San Pedro location had its official grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on December 3rd, presided by the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce. The new location will provide extensive services including state-of-the-art infusion centers, chemotherapy educational sessions, in-house support groups, dietary and nutritional counseling, in-house pharmacy, financial counseling, clinical trials, comprehensive lab testing, and end of life counseling. The office is conveniently located close to the Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center.
This is The Oncology Institute's second South Bay location since the grand opening of the Torrance location in 2012. “To serve the community and provide cancer treatment to the patients and families we serve is a tremendous responsibility that we don’t take lightly. Dr. Anthony Giorgio joined the team of board-certified oncologists and hematologists on October 1st at The Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation's new San Pedro office. Dr. Giorgio received his medical degree from Boston University. He completed his internal medicine residency and fellowship at the University of Utah Medical Center. Dr. Giorgio's prior academic appointments included serving as a professor at the University of Utah Medical School and at Charles R. Drew Medical School as well as assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh and at the University of Southern California. Dr. Giorgio served in the United States Navy Reserves as Active Duty in the Medical Corp, Lieutenant Assignments – Aviation Medicine and Active Reserve in the Medical Corp, Lieutenant Commander Assignments – Medical Officer.
Dr. Giorgio has extensive knowledge and experience in oncology and hematology. He has held various leadership roles in the South Bay area including chairman at South Bay Hospital, Little Company of Mary Hospital, and San Pedro Peninsula Hospital. Before joining The Oncology Institute, Dr. Giorgio had a solo practice for over 30 years in Redondo Beach and San Pedro.
Dr. Giorgio believes that the key to good patient care is to care for the patient. He strives to build a relationship with each patient and their family to provide them with individualized treatment and realistic expectations. Dr. Giorgio helps his patients focus on maximizing their quality of life with education and empowerment.
