ThePartyMatch.com Unveils New Internet Platform Designed to Simplify Party and Event Planning Industry

Founded by Monique Mills, an engineer with an MBA from the Georgia Institute of Technology, the idea for ThePartyMatch platform came from a necessity to balance a busy career with motherhood. “Last year I was in China for 2 weeks with my daughter’s birthday rapidly approaching,” Mills says. “I was unable to plan or book anything from another country, while I was 12 hours ahead, and in meetings all day.”
Frustrated by the hours of legwork party planning can take, Mills found few alternatives for a child’s birthday, “I ended up booking brunch reservations for my family at an upscale restaurant using OpenTable because that was the easiest option, but it didn’t feel particularly special or unique.” Mills continued, “I thought to myself, “there has to be an easier way to plan and book a great event while juggling work, running a household, and having a family.”
Upon building the beta product of ThePartyMatch platform, Mills was able to sign her first customers, attract team members, and investors. The executive MBA program at Georgia Tech served as an “accelerator” for the young idea, Mills says, during which time she was able to connect into Atlanta’s startup ecosystem; a move that provided additional education, introductions, and support as she launched the technology company. ThePartyMatch celebrated their official launch on May 17th with an event pulled together in less than ten minutes using their own event planning platform. The festivities, held at one of their customer's location in downtown Atlanta, included art instruction, King of Pops desserts, and a parrot show by Parrot Productions.
Users can leverage the platform by entering their choice of search criteria: budget, date, occasion, location or number of attendees, and receive a list of venues in the area that offer both traditional options and unique party packages. Similar to internet platforms such as Yelp and OpenTable, ThePartyMatch offers users the ability to browse event packages, read reviews, and view beautiful venue photos. Once a package is purchased, users receive same-day confirmation, immediately saving hours of time, stress, and hassle.
ThePartyMatch is also beneficial to its venue owners as it allows them to fill the voids in their business and maximize use of their facilities. Although, Mills says, many of the company’s “venue owners” do not typically see themselves in that way. “For example, a spa might not consider themselves a venue, but they are. Their space could be used to host a baby shower, bridal shower, or simply a girls’ day out.” She says, “We help them expand their business' offerings and think outside of the box in terms of ways to use their space.”
ThePartyMatch seeks to increase small business partnerships in Atlanta by encouraging and enabling them to collaborate in order to create a full experience for platform users. “A soccer team recently used our platform to book their end-of-season party at a local specialty yogurt shop half the parents didn’t know existed in their own neighborhood,” Mills explained, “that yogurt shop then contracted with a local pizza shop to provide pizza for the party. Two businesses working together for the mutual benefit of a stellar experience is a win-win for all involved.”
For CEO Monique Mills, however, it all goes back to the plight of the busy parent. “It is stressful every year trying to figure out something unique to do for a child’s birthday,” she says as she recalls the multiple birthdays her own children are invited to each weekend. “Rather than a nice dinner to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, promotion, or special occasion, ThePartyMatch would rather make it easy for others to have experiences and create memories.
