The Toy Insider, the preeminent consumer publication for toys, has released its Spring Edition online at Featuring six categories of spring and summer toys, the Toy Insider assists gift givers in selecting the best and hottest toys for the outdoor and travel season.

“After playing with and testing hundreds of toys, we created a list that is jam-packed with play value and includes something for everyone,” says Laurie Schacht, Toy Insider Mom. She reminds parents and gift givers to look for toys that provide active play or engaging play that will last for hours, and that will help kids “shut down” their devices and enjoy the great outdoors. “Whether you’re playing in the yard or taking a trip to Grandma’s, we’ve got you covered,” she says.

The six categories listed below offer a variety of products for boys and girls of all ages at varying price points:

  •          OUTDOOR TOYS- There are so many ways to enjoy the warm weather, whether it’s playing sports, exploring nature, blowing bubbles, or riding a bike. Fresh air is waiting, so go play! We especially love the X6 Zoom Rocket, by Zing.
  •         WATER TOYS- A little H2O can go a long way with these toys. When kids are enjoying water play, they are outside, breathing fresh air, and moving their bodies. Our Toy Insider team’s favorites include the Nerf Super Soaker Tri Strike Cross Bow, by Hasbro.
  •          TRAVEL TOYS & GAMES- Whether you’re taking a ride across the country or just visiting grandparents a few towns over, these toys will help pass the time. One of our Toy Insider Mom’s favorites for the road is the Monster Tail by Rainbow Loom, from Choon’s Design.
  •         PHYSICAL/ACTIVE TOYS- It’s not always easy to get kids off the couch and away from the TV, computer, and video games. Sometimes it’s a simple matter of offering them a new way to get moving! Here are some of the hottest choices this summer, including the new EXY Trickstartr, from Yvolution.
  •         NATURE & EDUCATIONAL TOYS- These summer standouts will help kids discover, learn, and explore! Be sure to check out the Bubble Blower, from Thames & Kosmos.
  •         ENTERTAINMENT TOYS- When you need to take a break from the heat and take a seat in the air conditioning, summer movies are just the ticket. From summer blockbusters to evergreen favorites, licensed toys bring the characters to life and allow kids to take home a piece of the action. Toys based on Disney’s Frozen, such as the Disney Frozen Toddler Elsa and Anna Dolls from Jakks Pacific, will remain hotter than hot all season!
