After 200 sketches and 10 different iterations, we’ve taken that same concept and developed this product specifically for wine, without any of the common drawbacks of current aerators.

WineShark, the first ever red wine hyperaerator, is currently in the early stages of its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. The product campaign launched just over a week ago and has raised over $10,000. Backers of the WineShark have lauded the product’s innovative concept and unique shark-like design.
The WineShark is a sleek handheld device that uses a mini-propeller to facilitate wine aeration. Before drinking a glass of wine, simply insert the propeller into the glass and “shark it” for up to eight seconds for optimal aeration of the wine. It is rechargeable via an inductive charging base while the propeller wand is detachable for easy cleaning and travel. Using the WineShark is exponentially faster than using a decanter, which can take up to three hours to properly aerate a bottle of wine. The WineShark is also easier to use than popular pour-through aerators that can be awkward to operate and cumbersome to clean. Best of all, the WineShark can be used for a single glass of wine once it has already been poured if the consumer feels that some aeration is required.
Aeration occurs naturally over time once a bottle of wine is opened; benefits of aeration include a more pronounced aroma and a softer flavor profile. Rather than wait, wine drinkers often turn to aerators to facilitate the process, resulting in a slew of options on the market. Alternatively, many wine aerators and accessories have taken to crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter to help fund their projects to bring the experience of fine wine to the everyday person without all the hassle. WineShark has been designed with this exact purpose in mind. The WineShark is faster, more effective, and easier to use than any aerator currently on the market. To make his product a reality, Taylor Hayden, creator of WineShark, is seeking a crowdfunding goal of $40,000 on Kickstarter to fulfill the first round of production.
“Currently, the most effective method to aerate wine is in a kitchen blender, but it presents many of the inconveniences and cleaning problems of current aerators,” states Taylor Hayden. “After 200 sketches and 10 different iterations, we’ve taken that same concept and developed this product specifically for wine, without any of the common drawbacks of current aerators.”
Early bird backers of WineShark on Kickstarter can still get their hands on a WineShark for only $25, over 35% less than the expected retail price. After that, fashionably late supporters can get the WineShark for a pledge of $35, still less than retail. Even after these specials have been exhausted, any person who backs WineShark will still receive a discounted price as a thank you for supporting the product. Anyone who pledges a substantial amount of $3,499 or more to the campaign can look forward to rewards such as a weekend getaway to Sonoma Valley, California, complete with meals and a private wine tour.
