Adrenaline Junkies Save Lives - ThrillSeeker 5K Stunt Run Launches First Stunt-based Obstacle Course Run, Benefits Be The Match
Mesa, AZ (PRWEB) December 03, 2014 -- The ThrillSeeker 5K Stunt Run, presented by Guardian Angel Council, is pushing the envelope in creating awareness for a worthy cause by putting on the world’s first Stunt Run. Starting off in San Antonio, TX on February 28, 2015, the 5K ThrillSeeker Stunt Run offers the chance to safely master over a dozen of the most adrenaline-pumping “As Seen on TV” stunts ever created, all for a good cause.
Guardian Angel Council aims to put on an event that's more than an obstacle course race or “fun run” and create the first of its kind Stunt Run to promote its cause. The 5K ThrillSeeker Stunt Run takes an obstacle run and spins it around, gives it a shot of adrenaline and throws it on a stunt pad. From a creator of popular stunt shows like MTV’s Nitro Circus and Fuel TV’s Thrillbillies, comes the run with heart-pounding challenges everyone can safely enjoy with their friends and family. With the experience the creators gained from years in extreme sports and stunt production, they have designed the course to give participants the ability to try some of the craziest stunts ever seen on TV or posted on YouTube, in a safe, controlled environment much like on Hollywood film sets.
Along with the new-found stunt expertise participants gain, they can be proud to know they’re doing their part to potentially save lives. The founders of Guardian Angel Council (GAC) recognize that although a majority of people across the nation are affected by cancer in some way, many think they need to be doctors or financial donors to help someone fight it. To the contrary, by joining Be The Match®, the nation’s largest bone marrow donor registry program, and providing a cell sample from swabbing the inside of their cheek, they get the chance to make their bone marrow available to save a life. Additionally, a portion of the event proceeds will benefit Be The Match®.
Thomas Levi Leyba, GAC’s Executive Director, states, “we look forward to this tremendous opportunity to partner with an organization that shares in our goal of increasing awareness of Be The Match® and specifically the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry. Together we will make more of an impact than on our own individual accord.”
Del Andrus, from the 5K ThrillSeeker Stunt Run, says, “We're proud to work with Guardian Angel Council to put on the most thrilling 5K event ever created for a great cause and allow participants to donate something better than money: a life-saving commitment.”
Heavily focused on safety, the 5K ThrillSeeker Stunt Run showcases advanced stunt rigging, airbags, and inflatables which grants broader access to a bolder form of obstacles not limited by mud, electric shock, cold, extreme fitness, or trending gimmicks found in other obstacle course events. With evermore-extreme stunts popularized on the internet and TV, the 5K ThrillSeeker Stunt Run is designed to bridge the gap between safety and adrenaline.
The 5K ThrillSeeker Stunt Run is scheduled to visit 12 cities across the U.S. in 2015, bringing participants high-flying, endorphin-pumping action coast-to-coast. Throw in local food trucks, performers, and a family-friendly kid’s 1K Stunt Run (ages 6-12), and there’s something for everyone.
Featured Stunts Include:
The Jumbo Flyer: Drop down the world’s largest water slide and launch off a mega-ramp jump onto a state of the art stunt pad.

About Guardian Angel Council
Guardian Angel Council (GAC) is a 501(c)(3) that exists to create awareness for the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry, specifically through the program Be The Match®. There is an ever-growing need for marrow donors, as there is a 1-in-4 chance of having a sibling be a match, and about 70% of patients in need of a transplant do not have a suitable donor in their family. GAC pays special attention to increasing minority participation in the registry - minorities make up only 25% of potential donors, and patients are more likely to find that life-saving match from donors of their own ethnic background. For more information, please visit guardianangelcouncil.org.
About Be The Match
For people with life-threatening blood cancers—like leukemia and lymphoma—or other diseases, a cure exists. Be The Match® connects patients with their donor match for a life-saving marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant. People can contribute to the cure as a member of the Be The Match Registry®, financial contributor or volunteer. Be The Match® provides patients and their families one-on-one support, education, and guidance before, during and after transplant.
Be The Match® is operated by the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP), a nonprofit organization that matches patients with donors, educates health care professionals and conducts research so more lives can be saved. To learn more about the cure, visit BeTheMatch.org or call 1 (800) MARROW-2.
