Oklahoma Joe’s Co-Owner Joy Stehney Trades Places With TIVOL CEO Cathy Tivol
Kansas City, Mo (PRWEB) September 02, 2014 -- This August, the owners of two iconic Kansas City companies decided to trade places for a day.
Joy Stehney, the co-owner of Oklahoma Joe’s Bar-B-Que, and Cathy Tivol, the owner of TIVOL, had long admired each other’s businesses.
The pair has been friends for years.
Tivol, who is a self-described foodie and a lover of down-home American cuisine, spent time working in the kitchen of the Kansas City, Kansas location of Oklahoma Joe’s, pulling pork and saucing ribs.
Conversely, Stehney, who adores jewelry, spent the day behind the scenes at TIVOL on the Country Club Plaza surrounded by diamonds and baubles. Stehney also sat in with the marketing and buying departments and ran an all-staff meeting.
The resulting four-minute film, “The Office Swap,” documents – or rather, “mockuments” – the activities of these two celebrated businesswomen as they run each other’s companies for a day.
For Stehney, making the film presented an opportunity to see the inner workings of TIVOL, as well as a chance to collaborate with a friend.
“I’ve always admired TIVOL, and it was such a treat to run the company if even for a few hours” Stehney said. “In this video we put ourselves in hilarious and ridiculous situations, and I’ve never had more fun than watching Cathy work in the kitchen of Oklahoma Joe’s – and stealing our food along the way.”
While the tongue-and-cheek video was created to celebrate Stehney and Tivol’s friendship, it also serves a very realistic purpose.
“We sometimes hear that people are intimidated to walk into TIVOL because of our reputation for luxury,” Tivol said. “This video was such a fun way to help break down that barrier, and to remind people that we are not only friendly and approachable, but we have a sense of humor as well.”
