He also served as chairman of the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame. He was active in the formation of the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee and was involved in Bart Starr's Rawhide Boys Ranch. He authored an autobiography, The Land of Milk & Money, and went on to publish Hunters, Loggers & Bootleggers based on his family's 132-year consecutive trips to Wisconsin's Northwoods for the deer-hunting season.
