Turning Stone’s Golf Courses Hailed Among the Nation’s Best with Top Awards from Golfweek and Association of Golf Merchandisers
Oneida Nation Homelands (NY) (PRWEB) January 08, 2014 -- The world-class golf courses at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Central New York were recently honored with prestigious awards from some of the sport’s most respected organizations. Turning Stone’s Atunyote, Kaluhyat and Shenendoah golf courses were each included in Golfweek’s Best Casino Courses of 2013, while the resort’s Shenendoah Golf Club was selected as one of the nation’s top golf shops by the Association of Golf Merchandisers (AGM).
This is the seventh consecutive year that Turning Stone’s Atunyote, Kaluhyat and Shenendoah were all elected to Golfweek’s exclusive list of the Best Casino Courses. Based on ten criteria including routing, conditioning, variety and memorability of holes, golf courses are rated by The Golfweek Raters panel which represents more than 700 experienced evaluators. With only 50 courses chosen nationwide, Turning Stone has solidified itself as one of the country’s finest golf destinations by consistently maintaining three spots on the esteemed list.
Turning Stone’s Shenendoah Golf Club was also honored with a 2014 AGM Platinum Award. Recognizing premier golf shops across the country, the “best of the best” AGM honorees are judged on new ideas, creativity, adaptability, and best practices. Shenendoah and other winners will be recognized and feted on the main stage at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando on January 22, 2014.
Featuring pro-level play among spectacular settings and picturesque views, Turning Stone’s courses have held major golf events including the PGA Tour, PGA Professional National Championship, B.C. Open and Turning Stone Resort Championship, and have hosted some of the sport’s biggest names including Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler.
Each year, the Nation’s Atunyote Golf Course hosts the annual Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge charity event, which Woods won in 2009.
"We are thrilled that our courses and shop have received these recognitions for excellence," said CEO of Oneida Nation Enterprises Ray Halbritter. "As anyone who has played our courses can tell you, the quality of the golf at Turning Stone is truly second to none and we will continue to make Turning Stone a top destination for golfers from across the country and around the world."
Located at Turning Stone’s sprawling 3,400 acre complex, the first-rate golf is surrounded by world-class dining, accommodations and entertainment options at the four-season destination resort. Welcoming more than 4.5 million guests a year, Turning Stone recently expanded with a new $25 million, multi-venue entertainment complex called “Exit 33.”
Last month, the resort’s TS Steakhouse was honored in OpenTable’s top 10 Best Ambiance Restaurants in the New York Area. Turning Stone’s Skaná Spa was also recently named to the Best Casino Hotel Spas and Best Spas for Golf in SpaFinder Wellness Readers’ Choice Awards.
