Four Barnes Alford Attorneys Selected as Midlands Legal Elites
Columbia, South Carolina (PRWEB) October 14, 2013 -- Barnes Alford is pleased to announce that attorneys Weldon R. Johnson, Alan J. Reyner, Robert T. Strickland, and Curtis W. Dowling have been selected by Greater Columbia Business Monthly as Midlands Legal Elites in the civil litigation, tax law, construction, and insurance practice areas. The magazine selected the top Columbia-area attorneys in 20 practice areas. The selections were published in the magazine’s October 2013 issue. The honorees will be recognized at a reception on October 15, 2013 at the Capital City Club.
Weldon R. Johnson is the firm’s senior partner, with over thirty-five years of experience. A 1966 graduate of Wofford College, Mr. Johnson received his law degree from the University of South Carolina in 1969. He was a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for several years before returning to South Carolina to practice law, joining with James W. Alford to form Alford & Johnson. In 1983, Alford, Johnson & Salane merged with Barnes, Stork, Wolff & Reyner to form Barnes, Alford, Stork & Johnson, LLP.
Alan J. Reyner is of counsel to the firm. He received his B.A. degree from The Citadel in 1972 and his law degree from the University of South Carolina in 1976. He received an L.L.M. in Taxation from New York University in 1977. Mr. Reyner is a certified taxation specialist and practices in the areas of tax law and estate planning. He served on the Taxation Law Specialization Advisory Board from 1995 to 1998 and chaired that Board in 1998. He is a member of the Richland County and South Carolina Bar Associations.
Robert T. Strickland is a Managing Partner of Barnes, Alford, Stork & Johnson, LLP. He joined the firm in 1984 after graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he was selected to serve on the South Carolina Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree in 1981 from Clemson University with honors.
Curtis W. Dowling handles appellate proceedings before the South Carolina Supreme Court and South Carolina Court of Appeals. A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Curtis received both his undergraduate degree (1980) and law degree (1985) from the University of South Carolina. He is a member of the Richland County and South Carolina Bar Associations, as well as the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association.
