“Lara’s regulatory expertise and leadership has been invaluable to the firm and our clients,” said the firm’s Founder, Harry Nelson. “She brings deep experience in healthcare operations, data privacy and security and other complex regulatory areas of our practice, and her research in virology and immunology greatly informs our Life Sciences Practice. “Healthcare innovation and regulation are quickly changing,” says Compton. “I enjoy working with clients to understand their objectives and provide practical guidance that addresses legal issues and accounts for development and growth.”
Compton has led multiple HIPAA breach investigations and has counseled clients on applicable reporting requirements. She also advises on compliance with federal and state anti-kickback and self-referral laws (e.g. Stark), and related fraud and abuse issues.
