10.) All Aboard: Vermont by Rail is an apt caboose to this “Top 10,” as new Amtrak offers and deals were on the right course in 2013.
9.) Newflash! The VermontVacation.com Press Room ranking reveals that readers want the latest news, with top topics ranging from Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve to comprehensive summertime events.
8.) A Free for All: Every June, Vermont Days is host to free fishing, free state-historic sites entry, fee state parks entry and admission to the Vermont History Museum. Fortunately, this news was shared quite “freely” on social media!
7.) So Close, SoVT: Southern Vermont was abuzz in 2013. The vibrant, historic communities of Brattleboro, Bennington, Wilmington and Manchester hosted nearly nonstop events and festivals.
6.) Life on the Homefront: Vermont’s Civil War history, museum exhibits and events during the Vermont Civil War Sesquicentennial have piqued history buffs and visitors’ interests – with major events coming in 2014 too!

4.) Moooving Up on the List: While good taste is always in fashion in Vermont, a “Meet the Farmers” getaway contest helped propel Vermont Farms into a top ranking topic. We will be sure to share more Vermont farm and food news for hungry readers in 2014.
3.) Cheese & Skis: Vermont’s Winter Wanderland is giving away 200+ lift tickets this season; coming in as Top 3, there’s no arguing that Winter paired with Vermont cheddar is not a major draw.
2.) Seeing is BeLeafing: With the launch of video foliage reports, Vermont Tourism delivered foliage progression as close to real-time as possible this year. This allowed for better driving routes and planning for peak foliage travel. When it comes to year-round interest, we’re pleased to see that Fall Foliage is always peak.
