Visit Topeka, partnering with Kansas Tourism, to offer four individuals an all-inclusive three-day stay in Topeka
TOPEKA, Kan., March 3, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Visit Topeka, in partnership with Kansas Tourism, announced today the launch of a free trip giveaway to the capital city of Kansas in response to recent remarks by New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Adams made headlines on March 1, following a speech Tuesday in which he mentioned Topeka by name: "God said, 'I'm going to take the most broken person and I'm going to elevate him to the place of being the mayor of the most powerful city on the globe,'" Mr. Adams said. "He could have made me the mayor of Topeka, Kansas. He could have made me the mayor of some small town or village somewhere."

Residents of New York City, including the five boroughs of The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island, are eligible for the chance to win an all-inclusive three-day, two-night stay in Topeka. The visit will include roundtrip airfare for four people out of nearby Kansas City, as well as hotel accommodations, tickets to local attractions, and $500 in gift certificates to local restaurant and retail locations.

This sweepstakes comes on the heels of a boom in Topeka's arts and entertainment industries. The capital city hosted the first-ever state-wide Pride event in fall of 2022 and boasts a vibrant and thriving entertainment and nightlife scene — including the art and mural-filled NOTO Arts and Entertainment District. Other monumental destinations include the Equality House, one of Topeka's best-known pillar of Pride and LGBTQ+ rights, and the East 6th business district, which includes 30 Spanish-language restaurants, retailers and bars. The city also annually hosts one of the Midwest's largest Mexican festivals, Fiesta Mexicana.
