Town of Brookline celebrates topping out of Michael Driscoll School
The new school is on time for completion in the fall of 2023.
BROOKLINE, Mass., Oct. 26, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Officials from the Public Schools of Brookline joined students, alumni, families, educators, neighbors, and representatives from Leftfield, Jonathan Levi Architects, and Gilbane Building Company to celebrate the topping out of the 155,000-SF Michael Driscoll School in Brookline, Massachusetts.
The new facility will address concerns regarding a growing student population within the district, accommodating nearly 800 students in grades pre-kindergarten through eighth. Through purposeful design, the school will offer Brookline's youngest and middle grades learners an enriching environment to bolster 21st century learning.
In the one year since construction began, over 11,000 cubic yards of concrete has been placed and over 1,200 tons of structural steel erected as the project inches closer to completion and meeting Brookline's goal of providing a creative, joyful, and whole-child public education for its diverse community of learners.

The Michael Driscoll Elementary School is slated for completion in the fall of 2023, followed by demolition of the existing school and construction of new playfields to be completed by May 2024.
