Jim Ellis Automotive Group is proud to offer all dealership locations as Toys for Tots collection sites this holiday season. The Toys for Tots program collects toys that are distributed to those children in the community that are less fortunate at Christmas.

From now until Dec. 15, bring a new, unwrapped toy to any Jim Ellis dealership during business hours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. or Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. A collection box will be available at the dealership for customers to drop off toys for children up to age 12.

"Toys for Tots is a great charity that provides gifts to so many children in need that otherwise would not receive a gift this holiday season," Jim Ellis Automotive Group Vice President COO Jimmy Ellis said. "We are glad to be a drop-off point and to participate in this great cause."

Many Jim Ellis dealerships are offering special incentives for those brining toys to their dealerships. For toys brought to Jim Ellis Mazda Atlanta the donor will be entered to win a $100 Visa gift card. The drawing will take place after the collection deadline. Those bringing toys to Jim Ellis Audi Atlanta will be entered into a drawing for either Justin Timberlake concert tickets or Hawks tickets. Jim Ellis Audi Marietta will include all toy donors at their dealership in a drawing for Andrea Bocelli concert tickets. There will be twenty winners and two grand-prize winners that in addition to concert tickets will receive dinner, Audi lounge passes and an Audi A6 to drive for the night. And Jim Ellis Hyundai Atlanta will donate an additional toy to Toys for Tots for each toy that is donated to their dealership.

In addition to special incentives offered, Jim Ellis Chevy Buick GMC Atlanta hosted a company kickball game where dealership employees competed against each other for bragging rights. All those participating were asked to bring a toy donation for Toys for Tots. This event was a great success and helped to kick start the toy collecting within the Jim Ellis dealerships.

Toys for Tots was founded by Major Bill Hendricks, USMCR, in Los Angeles California in 1947 when 5,000 toys were collected before Christmas. The next year the United States Marine Corps Reserves adopted the program as a community action project, and each Reserve Center throughout the nation began to conduct toy collection and distribution in their local communities. During the 1970s, public support for the program grew as civilian organizations and individuals began assisting the Reserve Units with local programs, increasing the amount of toys collected and distributed annually to an average of 6 million. Beginning in 1980, the Marines began collecting and distributing new toys only. Today local collections take place in more than 700 communities in all 50 states.

The toys collected at Jim Ellis dealerships will be distributed to economically disadvantaged children throughout the metro Atlanta area. The goal of the program is to bring a message of hope to these children at Christmas by allowing them to experience the holiday’s joy through receiving a gift they might not otherwise get.
