Transformative Wave is proud to announce its President, Danny Miller, was selected to author a chapter in the recently published book entitled “Automated Diagnostics and Analytics for Buildings.” The chapter, entitled "Battling Entropy in Rooftop HVAC Systems with Advanced Fault Detection & Diagnostics" can be found in the Current Technology, Tools, Products, Services & Applications section of the book. The 600-page hardback book is a compilation of information written by highly regarded professionals and influencers in the field of commercial energy efficiency, automation, and building information systems. It was edited by Barney L. Capehart, Ph.D., and Michael R. Brambley, Ph.D. both of whom have distinguished careers researching, teaching and applying energy management concepts and programs.
Mr. Miller, comments, “It was an honor to be approached by Dr. Brambley and Dr. Capehart about participating in this project. I attempted to provide my perspective based on years of practical experience with the most common commercial HVAC systems in America and also Transformative Wave’s perspective as the developer of intelligent systems designed to keep these appliances operating at their optimum level of performance. The opportunity to share our experience and insight is flattering. I recommend this extraordinary book to anyone interested in learning more about how technology can make commercial buildings smarter and more finely tuned in their use of resources.”
The Fairmont Press, the publishing firm of the book, says, “The purpose of this book is to share information with a broad audience on the state of automated fault detection and diagnostics for buildings applications, the benefits of those applications, emerging diagnostic technology, examples of field deployments, the relationship to codes and standards, automated diagnostic tools presently available, guidance on how to use automated diagnostics, and related issues.” Mr. Miller’s chapter highlights the unique challenges of keeping commercial rooftop HVAC systems in an optimized state. It describes Transformative Wave’s CATALYST and eIQ technologies as a combined web-based tool that specializes in anticipating, identifying, and resolving common issues with these systems.
In a note to Mr. Miller, Dr. Capehart said: “Danny - This is really fantastic! I really mean it. You gave us a great chapter that provides a huge amount of background on problems with RTUs, and then gave us information on your product which deals with many of these problems. And you also gave us a lot of examples of what CATALYST will do for many typical facilities. Plus, you provided a lot of great suggestions and advice to people who own, operate, and maintain large RTU systems, and what they can do to operate them more efficiently and more effectively, at lower cost. This chapter will really be one of the most read chapters with all its great information!”
A free copy of Mr. Miller’s chapter can be downloaded here. The book, “Automated Diagnostics and Analytics for Buildings,” can be purchased directly from The Fremont Press, Amazon, and other online and retail locations.
