American Medical Systems and other pelvic mesh manufacturers have been facing a mounting number of vaginal mesh lawsuits since October 2008, when the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) issued its first of two alerts to warn the public of the serious risks associated with the use of transvaginal mesh to treat pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence. The FDA’s second alert, which was issued in July 2011, revealed that the agency no longer considered vaginal mesh complications associated with prolapse repair to be a rare occurrence.

Alleged victims of vaginal mesh complications may be entitled to compensation for their medical bills, pain and suffering, and other injuries.
