New Book Titled " Trust Me I'm A Plastic Surgeon" Provides Honest, Easy-to-Read Answers to "Where Can I Get Unbiased Information About Cosmetic Procedures?"
Frederick, MD (PRWEB) November 06, 2013 -- We’ve all seen the stories and photos of facelifts and cosmetic procedures gone wrong on TV and in tabloids. And you may have seen people who look like they have “duck lips” or tennis bulbs in their cheeks, and wondered “what happened to them?”
It’s likely they either made a poor or inappropriate choice of procedures, or they were the victims of an unqualified or unscrupulous physician or medical provider.
Honest, Easy to Understand Advice
Ads and websites will give glowing reviews of products and procedures because they’re all about selling consumers what they desire. And websites with reviews of cosmetic products and procedures give widely varying information.
Now Donald Kress, M.D., a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with more than 30 years of experience, has written a practical and easy-to-read guide to plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures called Trust Me I’m A Plastic Surgeon – The Survival Guide.
“I wrote this book because the number of patients who come into my office with botched plastic surgery procedures has gradually risen from two per year to more than 30 percent of my practice,” explained Dr. Kress.
“I decided at this stage of my career to take care of injured patients the best I could by offering sympathy and good surgical care. But I ‘m also attempting to reverse this trend by helping people make knowledgeable decisions,” he added.
The seven most important things people will learn from the book are:
1. How to qualify your physician: What kind of education and certifications are crucial and how his or her style could affect your outcome.
2. Who chooses to have plastic surgery and why; how to make sure your expectations are realistic.
3. Everything you need to know about having a procedure, including how long it will take to recover and to see the full results.
4. How to develop an emergency plan if something goes wrong!
5. A comprehensive guide to all of the possible corrective and aesthetic surgical procedures, from face lifts to tummy tucks and buttock lifts.
6. Valuable information on risks, recovery times, costs, alternatives, necessary skill level of the medical provider, discomfort, recovery and return to work timeframes and potential difficulties and complications.
7. A comprehensive review of all of the non-surgical procedures, from chemical peels to lasers, radio frequency treatments (one major Plastic Surgery conference voted it “one of the top 10 most useless devices of the decade”), Botox, fillers such as Juvederm and Radiesse, and more.
Cosmetic Procedures are Not Just for the Rich and Famous
“Most of the people who come into my office are regular people who just want to feel better about themselves,” said Dr. Kress. “They may have a physical feature they’ve been unhappy with all of their lives, women may have a sagging body after childbirth, or they may want to look younger or less tired so they have a better shot at a promotion at work. There are many reasons why people seek out cosmetic procedures,” he added.
In the United States, 1.7 million cosmetic procedures are projected for 2013. “If even 10 percent of those procedures have a problem, that’s a staggering number, and those are the cases done by qualified surgeons,” noted Dr. Kress.
