About the Author
Henry S, Panian is an educator and community activist. He started teaching at Mid Pacific Institute in Honolulu, Hawaii. After acquiring a Master of Arts degree in History from the University of California, Berkeley, he taught United States and California history at Orange Coast College, a community college in Costa Mesa, California for 34 years. In 1966, he helped found the Costa Mesa Historical Society and the Newport Mesa Unified School District. In 1977, he was elected to the Mesa Water District Board of Directors, where he served for 21 years, twice being president. In 1997, the Daughters of the American Revolution awarded him their Excellence in Community Service Certificate. And in 2010, the Mesa Water District recognized him with its Lifetime Achievement Award. Panian is also the author of “THE CYMERIAN CHAPTER.”
