New York, NY (PRWEB) September 01, 2014

Parties involved in federally-filed Tylenol lawsuits (http://www.tylenollawsuitcenter.com/) are looking ahead to the litigation’s status conference in September, where issues related to claims involving the pain reliever will be discussed in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports.

According to a schedule of status conferences posted on the Court’s website, the meeting is scheduled to take place on September 16th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. This is the latest of several Tylenol conferences that have taken place this year in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, where dozens of lawsuits have been filed against Johnson & Johnson and McNeil Consumer Healthcare. Plaintiffs in Tylenol claims allege serious liver damage caused by the medication’s active ingredient, acetaminophen. “We are looking forward to the Tylenol litigation’s September status conference, as we are speaking on a regular basis with individuals who sustained liver damage allegedly caused by the pain relieving medication,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective medical devices and drugs including Tylenol. The Firm is offering free legal reviews to individuals who allegedly suffered acetaminophen-related liver damage that resulted in hospitalization, liver transplantation, or death.

Tylenol Lawsuits Alleging Liver Damage

According to a federal Case List updated on August 15th, at least 154 Tylenol lawsuits are now pending in the federal litigation underway in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. These claims involve alleged instances where individuals took the medications and were hospitalized, needed a liver transplant or even died after taking the medication in accordance with label directions.

A Philadelphia Inquirer report from earlier this year calls attention to the dangers associated with acetaminophen. According to the article published in February 2014, toxic reactions related to the Tylenol ingredient result in 78,000 emergency room visits and 33,000 hospitalizations.*

In August 2013, Bloomberg.com reported that acetaminophen contained in certain over the-counter Tylenol products exceeded the amount limited by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) two years earlier for prescription drugs. The federal agency announced in 2011 that these medications were not to contain more than 325 mg of acetaminophen per tablet, but placed no such cap on over-the-counter products. Extra Strength Tylenol tablets each contain 500 mg of the ingredient, according to Bloomberg.**

Individuals who allegedly sustained serious liver damage after taking Tylenol may be eligible to receive compensation for injury-related damages.
