On May 3, 2015, as part of the traditional Bulgarian Days festival in Chicago, attorney Tzvetelina “Lina” Boynovska was on hand to give legal advice to attendees that had immigration questions. The event was organized by the Bulgarian-American Association (BAA), of which Lina is president, to offer free professional consultations for Bulgarian immigrants.
“The mission of the BAA is to facilitate the full integration of the Chicago-based Bulgarian minority into American society,” said Lina. “We aim to support and promote the economic, social, cultural and intellectual interests of the Bulgarian community in the greater Chicago area, which has the largest Bulgarian immigrant population in the world.”
The BAA was founded in 2001 by a group of Bulgarian-born professionals living and working in Chicago. It currently consists of people from all walks of life, such as lawyers, physicians, engineers, financial consultants, and artists, among others.
“For more than eleven years, the BAA has organized lectures led by experts to provide the Bulgarian community with information on hot issues in the areas of law, real estate, financial services, medicine, employment and communications,” said Lina. “These lectures are very informative and helpful and we strongly encourage Bulgarian immigrants who have questions needing answers to attend.”
