Hussar & Co. Begins Building a Business Leaders’ Coalition in Ukraine
New York, NY (PRWEB) March 07, 2014 -- Thomas PB Frater, Managing Director at Hussar & Co., travelled to Ukraine late Sunday night to help build a business coalition and facilitate dialogue between the Ukrainian business leaders and governmental officials. “Hussar & Co. was focused on Ukraine long before turmoil erupted in the region. We remain committed to the country and optimistic for its future,” said Mr. Frater on Monday afternoon.
Recognizing Mr. Frater’s expertise on Ukraine and understanding of investor appetite for the region, Fox Business News invited Mr. Frater to appear on After the Bell, on Monday evening (http://video.foxbusiness.com/v/3287566063001/global-markets-fall-on-tensions-in-crimea/#sp=show-clips). As Mr. Frater works to bring the business leaders of his coalition before members of Parliament in Ukraine and governmental officials in Washington, D.C., he will make additional appearances on the Fox network.
Hussar & Co. is a boutique merchant bank that focuses on the CIS and CEE regions. “The problem is that these markets are often overlooked by international investors. Companies seeking capital are left with very limited alternatives. They can either take on costly debt from local lenders or they can offer equity to some of the oligarchs in the region.” Mr. Frater explained that strong companies – those with solid gross margins and robust revenue growth face complicated struggles in tapping the global capital markets.
Mr. Frater affirmed, “We started this company because we believed that we could help businesses fulfill their growth plans and help spur development in traditionally less developed countries. Now that the political situation has significantly deteriorated, our mission has become even more important. We are committed to the region and to Ukraine for the long haul.”
Through Mr. Frater’s leadership, he is forming a coalition of Ukrainian business leaders to work towards establishing a sustainable and free democracy in Ukraine. Together, the coalition members will liaise between Ukrainian officials and officials in the United States, Western Europe and the NGO community to facilitate stability and improve Ukraine’s fragile political and economic spheres.
Mr. Frater and his partners have over 50 years of experience working in emerging markets. They are neither deterred nor frightened by the near-term picture. “We’ve been here before. We were here in the early nineties and we are here in 2014, I am confident that the community of business leaders can greatly contribute to helping return Ukraine to its growth trajectory.”
